The Fathom-sponsored event will happen on April 11 in the Octavius Ballroom. It will include a talk with Jon M. Chu.
A year after Universal Pictures showed a preview of his new musical Wicked at CinemaCon, Jon M. Chu is returning to Las Vegas for the National Association of Theater Owners’ convention.
Chu will be honored at a special luncheon where he’ll get an award for his impact on filmmaking and his commitment to showing different stories and viewpoints. This event, sponsored by Fathom, will also include a chat with Chu.
The luncheon will happen right after Universal and Focus Features’ studio presentation, where they’ll talk about their upcoming movies. Since Chu is part of the luncheon, there’s a chance he might show more footage from Wicked before its release on November 27.
Chu has directed many films like Step Up 2: The Streets, Crazy Rich Asians, and In the Heights. He’s also releasing a memoir in July.
At the Universal and Focus presentation, top executives will speak about their studios and upcoming movies.
CinemaCon will be held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas from April 8-11. It’s a big event for people in the movie industry, including those in exhibition, distribution, marketing, and more.
