Kate McKinnon came back to the comedy show to do another funny “Close Encounter” skit with Gosling at the beginning of the show.
Ryan Gosling talked about his Ken character from Barbie during his opening talk. He said he felt like he broke up with Ken because he was too into the character. Even though he didn’t plan to talk about Ken, he ended up singing a Taylor Swift song about his feelings.
Emily Blunt interrupted Gosling’s song, annoyed that he kept singing about Ken instead of promoting their movie. She told him to stop embarrassing himself and move on. But Gosling couldn’t let go and kept singing until Blunt hit him with a bottle and a chair, jokingly saying Ken is dead.
Later, Gosling and Blunt sang about their past characters, Kitty and Ken, together.
In another sketch, McKinnon, Gosling, and Cecily Strong talked about being abducted by aliens, with Gosling’s character getting uncomfortable when the aliens showed interest in his private part.
Basketball star Caitlin Clark appeared on “Weekend Update” to criticize Michael Che for a sexist joke he made about her.
Gosling hosted the show for the third time with Chris Stapleton as the musical guest.
