New ‘Jurassic World’ Movie Lands Rupert Friend in Starring Role

Gareth Edwards is directing the newest movie in the Jurassic World series for Universal Pictures.

British actor Rupert Friend, known for his role in Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City, will join Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey in the new Jurassic World movie.

The movie, which also features Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, is written by David Koepp, the original writer of Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park. The plot details are a secret. Filming will start in mid-June in London, aiming for a July 2, 2025 release.

Producers Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are overseeing the project, with Steven Spielberg as an executive producer.

Universal’s Sara Scott and Jacqueline Garell are managing the production.

Rupert Friend has appeared in Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch and Asteroid City, and in Netflix shorts The Swan and The Rat Catcher. He played the Grand Inquisitor in the Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi and recently finished filming the sci-fi thriller Companion. He will also star in the upcoming drama Dreams with Jessica Chastain.

Rupert Friend is represented by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment, and Hansen Jacobson.
