In 2022, Joni Mitchell said she was taking her music off Spotify because she agreed with Neil Young about something. Neil Young was upset about false information about COVID-19 vaccines being spread on a podcast on Spotify. He wrote a letter asking Spotify to stop it.
Neil Young came back to Spotify recently, but he said it wasn’t because he changed his mind about the problem. He came back because other places were also playing that podcast. He couldn’t just stop sharing his music on those other platforms like he did with Spotify.
He said, “I cannot just leave Apple and Amazon, like I did Spotify, because my music would have very little streaming outlet to music lovers at all, so I have returned to Spotify.”
