Jane Campion to Receive Locarno Film Festival Honor

The Locarno Film Festival will give a special award to Jane Campion, who directed famous movies like “The Piano” and “The Power of the Dog.” She will receive the Pardo d’Onore Manor Award for her lifetime achievements. The festival is in Switzerland, and it will happen on August 16th.

During the festival, two of Campion’s best movies will be shown: “An Angel at My Table” from 1990 and “The Piano” from 1993, which won a big award called the Palme d’Or. They will show “The Piano” at a big event with a new and improved picture. Campion will also talk in a panel on August 17th.

This award has been given to other great directors like Agnès Varda and Bernardo Bertolucci. Campion was the first woman to win a top prize at the Cannes Film Festival, and she won another significant award in Venice in 2021. She’s also been nominated for Oscars many times and won twice.

Besides her movies, Campion made a famous TV series called “Top of the Lake.” The Locarno festival director praised her for making unique and profound films that connect with people. The festival will run from August 7th to August 17th.
