Erik Canuel, a well-known director from Quebec, passed away at 63. He’s most famous for the movie Bon Cop, Bad Cop, which was a big success in Canada. Besides movies, he also directed TV shows like ‘Transplant,’ ‘Ransom,’ ‘Flashpoint,’ and ‘The Hunger.’
Canuel died in Montreal due to complications from leukemia. He was first diagnosed with a related condition, multiple myeloma, seven years ago.
His work was highly regarded in Quebec and across Canada. Bon Cop, Bad Cop was especially groundbreaking for being bilingual and a major hit at the box office. Canuel also directed other French-language films and worked on TV shows in both French and English.
He was born in Montreal in 1961 and grew up around actors and filmmakers, which influenced his career. Canuel leaves behind his partner Julie and children Elodie, L’amie, and Justine.
