The first glimpse of Ridley Scott’s big movie showed up at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, which is a fitting place to see it.
Gladiator 2 came to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, where people who own theaters got to see a sneak peek of Ridley Scott’s big movie.
Ridley Scott wasn’t there in person, but he sent a video from London to talk about the movie. He said, “It might be even better than the first one.” The new movie is a sequel to Gladiator from 2000. Paul Mescal, one of the stars, said working on it was a very important moment in his life. Denzel Washington said the movie will be very emotional and spectacular, better than anything else in theaters this year.
In the sneak peek, we see Paul Mescal as a gladiator, not as the nephew of Joaquin Phoenix’s Emperor Commodus like some people thought. He fights monkeys and even a soldier riding on a rhinoceros. There’s also a big ship battle in the Colosseum.
The first Gladiator movie won Russell Crowe an Oscar for best actor. It was about a Roman general who becomes a gladiator after being sold into slavery. He gains popularity with the people and stands against the evil Emperor Commodus.
It looks like Paul Mescal’s character is inspired by Russell Crowe’s character, Maximus. He talks about getting revenge and justice in the arena, just like Maximus did.
The new movie also talks about anti-war ideas. Pedro Pascal plays a military guy who doesn’t want to send young men to war anymore. Because of that, he gets forced to become a gladiator too. Denzel Washington’s character seems to be guiding Paul Mescal’s character to start a revolution.
Gladiator 2 is one of the most awaited movies, especially because it’s a sequel to the award-winning Gladiator. It’s set to release on November 22nd and promises a lot of action and spectacle on the screen.
For Paramount and Ridley Scott, Gladiator 2 is a bit of a risk. Scott’s movies can be big hits or not so much. His last movie about Napoleon made a lot of money, but it wasn’t what people expected. Paramount is still confident in him and has even asked him to direct a movie about the Bee Gees.
Ridley Scott mentioned in his video that it’s been more than 20 years since the first Gladiator came out, but he thinks this new one was definitely worth the wait.
