Elle Fanning to Star in New ‘Predator’ Movie ‘Badlands’

Dan Trachtenberg, who made the movie “Prey,” is directing a new project called “Badlands.” Elle Fanning, known for her role in “The Great,” is in talks to star in this new movie set in the Predator universe.

“Prey” was a successful movie set in 1719 and featured Amber Midthunder as a young Comanche woman fighting an alien hunter. It was a hit and set viewing records on Hulu.

Trachtenberg is working again with Patrick Aison, who wrote the script for “Prey,” to create the story for “Badlands.” The Hollywood Reporter says that 20th Century is developing several Predator projects, with Trachtenberg playing a key role.

The original Predator movie came out in 1987 starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. It was followed by several sequels and crossover movies with the Alien franchise.

The storyline for “Badlands” is not known yet, but sources say it will be set in the future, unlike “Prey.” It’s also unclear if it will go directly to streaming like “Prey.”

Elle Fanning was nominated for an Emmy and three Golden Globes for her work in “The Great,” which ended last year after three seasons. She also starred in the “Maleficent” movies and J.J. Abrams’ “Super 8.” She is represented by UTA, The Framework Collective, and Hansen Jacobson.
