The actress said she still feels sad because she really wanted to be in the movie from 1998 called The Wedding Singer.
Debi Mazar is still upset about not taking a role in the popular romantic comedy from 1998 called The Wedding Singer.
During a surprise video chat on The Drew Barrymore Show, the actress shared that she didn’t accept the chance to play Holly Sullivan, who is Julia Sullivan’s cousin and friend (played by Drew Barrymore), in the movie with Adam Sandler.
“I wanted to be in The Wedding Singer so much. I got the part, and I was super excited because I was a big fan of Adam,” Mazar said. “But then my agent said, ‘Don’t do it. They’re not offering enough money.’ I was confused.”
Even though she got the role, Mazar decided not to take it because her agent advised against it. Christine Taylor ended up playing the character instead.
“I still feel bad about it,” Mazar admitted. “I said sorry to Adam Sandler. I was young and my agent gave me the wrong advice. I fired my agent after that, of course. I regret it because I really wanted to do that movie, but I was young and made a silly choice.”
The Wedding Singer, directed by Frank Coraci, is about a wedding singer named Robbie (played by Sandler) who falls in love with a waitress named Julia and tries to win her heart before she marries someone else.
