Cate Blanchett Named EnergaCamerimage Festival Jury President

Two-time Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett will lead the jury for the main competition at the 32nd EnergaCamerimage International Film Festival, which celebrates cinematography. This festival will take place from November 16-23, 2024, in Torun, Poland.

Blanchett, known for her roles in Tár, Blue Jasmine, Carol, and Elizabeth, is also a producer with her company Dirty Films, which produced The New Boy and Miss America. She has also been a co-artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company.

EnergaCamerimage director Marek Żydowicz praised Blanchett, saying she is an outstanding artist who inspires people around the world. He is proud and happy that she accepted the invitation to be the jury president.

Blanchett has worked with celebrated cinematographers like Remi Adefarasin (Elizabeth), Ed Lachman (Carol), and Florian Hoffmeister (Tár). She expressed her excitement about being at EnergaCamerimage, calling it a dream come true to be among such talented cinematographers.

The festival has a tradition of having top actors as jury presidents. Previous jury presidents include Juliette Binoche in 2022 and Blanchett’s Tár co-star Nina Hoss in 2021.
