About Wildcat
Wildcat is a movie about the life of an American writer named Flannery O’Connor. She’s trying really hard to get her first book published. The movie also tells stories from O’Connor’s short stories. Ethan Hawke directed the movie and wrote it with Shelby Gaines. The main actors are Maya Hawke, Rafael Casal, Philip Ettinger, Cooper Hoffman, Steve Zahn, and Laura Linney.
The movie first showed at the Telluride Film Festival on September 1, 2023. It will come out in some places on May 3, 2024, and later in more theaters.

Production
Ethan Hawke and Shelby Gaines wrote the movie “Wildcat.” Ethan Hawke also directed it. Renovo Media Group’s Cory Pyke paid for the movie. Good Country Pictures’ Joe Goodman, Ethan Hawke, Ryan Hawke from Under the Influence Productions, and Maya Hawke also helped make the movie. Maya Hawke is also in the movie. In January 2023, Laura Linney, Philip Ettinger, Rafael Casal, Steve Zahn, Cooper Hoffman, Willa Fitzgerald, Alessandro Nivola, and Vincent D’Onofrio joined the movie.
They filmed the movie in Louisville, Kentucky from January 10 to February 11, 2023. They also filmed in Shelbyville and Frankfort in central Kentucky.
Release
The first time Wildcat was shown to the world was at the 50th Telluride Film Festival on September 1, 2023. After that, it was also seen at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2023. In January 2024, a company called Oscilloscope bought the rights to show the film in the United States. It’s planned to start showing in New York and Los Angeles on May 3, 2024, and then it will be shown in more places later.
