Production
In October 2022, Universal Pictures announced that it planned to release M. Night Shyamalan’s next film in April 2024, after “Knock at the Cabin.” The title of the film, “Trap,” was revealed in February 2023 when Shyamalan signed a first-look deal with Warner Bros. Marc Bienstock and Ashwin Rajan produced the film along with Shyamalan.
Filming was set to start in Cincinnati, Ohio, in August 2023, where the production would receive over $9 million in tax credits. Because Shyamalan finances his movies, the production got special permission to film during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Under the temporary title “Good Grades,” filming occurred in Toronto from October 16 to December 8, 2023. Scenes for the pop concert venue “Tanaka Arena” were filmed inside FirstOntario Centre, with exterior shots at Rogers Centre.

Release
