About The Substance
“The Substance” is a scary movie about the human body that came out in 2024. It was written and directed by Coralie Fargeat and stars Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley, and Dennis Quaid.
The movie first showed on May 19, 2024, at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. It was chosen to compete for the Palme d’Or, the festival’s top prize, and Coralie Fargeat won the award for Best Screenplay.

Synopsis of The Substance
Elisabeth Sparkle, who is the main person on a TV exercise program, loses her job on her 50th birthday because she’s old. She feels really sad when she gets home. But then, something surprising happens. A secret lab offers her a special “thing” that can make her younger, prettier, and better than before if she takes it.

Production of The Substance
In January 2022, they said Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley will be in a movie. Working Title Films will make it, and Universal Pictures will show it. In February 2022, they said Ray Liotta will also be in the movie.
They started filming in Paris in May 2022. In August 2022, Deadline Hollywood said they were still making the movie. Later that month, Qualley said in an interview with W that she was working on the movie. They finished filming in October 2022.
In 2023, they said Dennis Quaid will be in the movie instead of Liotta, who passed away before he could finish his part.

Release of The Substance
The Substance got picked to compete for a big award called the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024. It premiered there on May 19, 2024, in front of everyone. People clapped a lot for it, and some say the clapping lasted for about 9, 11, or 13 minutes.
Before all this, a company named Mubi bought the rights to show the film all over the world. They’re going to show it in theaters in North America, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Latin America, Benelux, Turkey, and India. Another company, Metropolitan Filmexport, got the rights to show it in France. Originally, Universal Pictures was going to show the movie.
