Production
In October 2019, it was announced that Russell Crowe would be in a new movie called The Georgetown Project. The directors, M. A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller wrote the screenplay. Miramax was going to make the movie.
In November 2019, more actors joined the cast: Ryan Simpkins, Chloe Bailey, Sam Worthington, David Hyde Pierce, Tracey Bonner, Samantha Mathis, Adrian Pasdar, and Adam Goldberg.
They started filming the movie in Wilmington, North Carolina, in November 2019 and finished in December. By April 2024, the movie was renamed The Exorcism.
Release
In April 2024, Vertical got the rights to show a film in North America. They decided to release it in theatres in the United States on June 7, 2024. Shudder also got the rights to show the film first on their platform.
