About The Crow
The Crow is a new superhero movie from America. It’s about a guy named Eric Draven who was killed but comes back to life to take revenge for his death and his fiancée’s death. Bill Skarsgård plays Eric Draven, and FKA Twigs plays his fiancée. This movie is like a fresh start for The Crow series. It’s the fifth one.
They started working on this movie in December 2008, and it underwent many changes. People would direct, write, and act in it over the years. Finally, Bill Skarsgård and Rupert Sanders were chosen as the leading actors and directors. They started filming in July in places like Prague and Penzing near Munich.
The Crow will come out in the United States on June 7, 2024, by Lionsgate.

Production
Development
On December 14, 2008, Stephen Norrington wanted to make a new version of The Crow. He wanted it to be different from the 1994 movie. He planned to make it more realistic and mysterious, not as gothic and stylized. Later, in 2009, Relativity Media talked about getting the rights and money for the film. In 2010, they asked musician Nick Cave to work on the script. In 2011, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo was chosen to direct, but later, there were legal problems.
In 2012, F. Javier Gutiérrez took over as the director. The project faced challenges, with actors like Bradley Cooper and Mark Wahlberg being considered for the lead role, but things didn’t work out. The film also faced delays due to legal issues between movie companies.
Eventually, in 2015, Luke Evans was cast as the lead. Filming was supposed to start but stalled again due to financial problems. The movie faced several setbacks, with directors and actors coming and going. In 2019, there were talks about a reboot again. Still, the original director, Alex Proyas, expressed concerns and deep respect for the late Brandon Lee, who played the lead in the original film and tragically died during its production. Proyas emphasized that The Crow is more than a movie; it’s Brandon Lee’s legacy and should be treated with respect.
Pre-production
In January 2020, they started working on the movie again. In March 2022, Pressman said the movie was still happening. The following month, they chose Rupert Sanders as the director and Zach Baylin as the writer. Edward R. Pressman and Malcolm Gray worked together to produce it. On April 1, 2022, The Hollywood Reporter told us that Bill Skarsgård would play the main character, Eric Draven. His brother Alexander was considered for this role before.
FKA Twigs would be Eric’s fiancée. Victor Hadida, Molly Hassell, and John Jencks would produce the movie. Sanders wanted the film to focus on grief and morality, creating a “dark romance.” He said it would feel like a song by The Cure. The script was written to honour Brandon Lee, and Skarsgård’s character is like a “successor.” Twigs and Skarsgård didn’t practice together before filming, but Sanders believed in their acting skills. They had dinner on set in Prague while filming.
Filming
Filming for the movie started on July 13, 2022, in Prague, Czech Republic. Some paperwork mistakenly said it was going to be a six-episode TV series. They were supposed to start filming in June 2022 in Prague and Munich. On August 26, 2022, Danny Huston was added to the cast, and Isabella Wei joined too. The movie finished filming on September 16, 2022.
Post-production
In September 2022, they made a movie at Penzing Studios in Penzing, Germany. They also created digital stuff and did special effects work in Bavaria, Germany. It was the first big movie worldwide to be made at that studio. In November 2022, Ashland Hill Media paid for the finishing touches of the movie.
Release
The movie “The Crow” will appear in theatres in the United States on June 7, 2024, by a Company called Lionsgate Films. Another Company called FilmNation Entertainment is in charge of selling the movie rights to other countries. They showed the movie to people who might want to buy it at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2022.
