Shirley is a new movie from America. It tells the true story of Shirley Chisholm running for president in 1972. She was the first Black woman elected to the U.S. Congress. Regina King plays the main character, and other actors in the movie include Lance Reddick, Terrence Howard, Lucas Hedges, W. Earl Brown, and André Holland.

Production
In February 2021, they said they were making a movie about Shirley Chisholm’s life. Regina King will lead, and John Ridley will direct and write the story. In December 2021, more actors like Lance Reddick, Lucas Hedges, André Holland, Terrence Howard, Christina Jackson, Michael Cherrie, Dorian Missick, Amirah Vann, W. Earl Brown, and Ethan Jones Romero joined the movie. Brian Stokes Mitchell, Brad James, and Reina King also joined later. On December 7, 2021, they started filming in Cincinnati.

Shirley will come out on Netflix in the United States on March 22, 2024.
