About Rob Peace
Rob Peace is an American drama movie from 2024. It was written and directed by Chiwetel Ejiofor, who also stars in it along with Jay Will and Mary J. Blige. The movie is based on the 2014 book ‘The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace’ by Jeff Hobbs.
The film was first shown at the Sundance Film Festival on January 22, 2024, and will be released by Republic Pictures in a few theaters on August 2, 2024.

Plot
Rob Peace, who was also called Shaun, graduated from Yale University. When his father was arrested for crimes he might not have done, Rob started selling drugs to help get his father out of jail while also keeping up with his other activities.

Production
In January 2019, it was announced that Chiwetel Ejiofor would direct the film. This decision came after Antoine Fuqua and his wife Rebecca watched Ejiofor’s first film, “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind.”
In February 2020, it was announced that Stephan James would play the character Peace, and Ejiofor would play Peace’s father.
In January 2023, Jay Will was chosen to play Peace. The next month, in February 2023, Mary J. Blige was selected to play Peace’s mother, Jackie. She is also an executive producer of the film. Later in February, it was announced that Camila Cabello would also join the cast.
Filming occurred in Newark, New Jersey, especially at St. Benedict’s Preparatory School, in December 2022.

Release
The film first showed at the Sundance Film Festival on January 22, 2024. In May 2024, Republic Pictures bought the rights to show the film in North America and will also handle selling it worldwide. They plan to release the film in 500 theaters in the United States for a short time, starting on August 2, 2024.
