About Reagan
Reagan is a new movie about an important American leader. It tells his life story and how he helped end communism. Sean McNamara directed the movie, and Howard Klausner and Jonas McCord wrote it. The story is based on a book by Paul Kengor called The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism. Dennis Quaid plays the main role in the movie. Other actors like Penelope Ann Miller, Robert Davi, Lesley-Anne Down, and Jon Voight also appear.
The filming of Reagan started on September 9, 2020, in places like Guthrie, Oklahoma.
You can watch this movie in theaters in the United States on August 30, 2024.
Premise
The movie tells the story of Ronald, from when he was a kid until he became the president of the United States. It’s told by someone who used to work for the KGB, which was the spy agency of Russia.

Production
In 2010, Mark Joseph said he would make a movie about Ronald Reagan. He got this idea after not liking a TV show called The Reagans. A writer, Jonas McCord, didn’t want to write it at first. But then he thought about Reagan’s childhood and decided it would make a good story.
They wrote the movie based on a book by Paul Kengor. The book is called The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism. Kengor said they stayed true to his book and to history.
In 2012, they talked to Jon Voight about playing a character named Viktor Novikov. He’s based on a few real people who watched Ronald Reagan for the KGB.
In 2016, Sean McNamara was chosen to direct the movie. He was picked because he worked on sound when Reagan became president. Another director, John G. Avildsen, was going to do it before he died.
Mark Joseph had a hard time finding money for the movie. He made deals, but the money never came. So, he found other ways to pay for it. The movie cost $25 million.
They started filming in September 2020. They filmed in Guthrie, Oklahoma. But then, in October, they had to stop because some people got COVID-19. They started again in November.
Release
The movie was supposed to come out in 2021, but it got postponed to a later date that wasn’t known at the time. In March 2024, they said ShowBiz Direct will be putting the movie in theaters on August 30, 2024.
