About Late Night with the Devil
Late Night with the Devil is a scary movie about ghosts. It was made in 2023 by two brothers from Australia, Cameron and Colin Cairnes. Some other important people helped, like Joel Anderson, Rami Yasin, and David Dastmalchian.
The movie was shown for the first time at the South by Southwest Film Festival on March 10, 2023. People who watched it there liked it. It will be in theaters on March 22, 2024, and you can also watch it on Shudder starting April 19, 2024.
Premise
In this movie, David Dastmalchian plays Jack Delroy, who hosts a pretend TV show from the 1970s called “Night Owls with Jack Delroy.” The film is made to look like it was recorded with a found camera. It pretends to be a lost episode from the show’s sixth season, aired on Halloween in 1977. During this pretend live TV show, things get chaotic when Delroy talks to a person who studies paranormal stuff (Laura Gordon) and a young teenager (Ingrid Torelli). The teenager is the only one who survived a mass suicide by a Satanic church, as told in the parapsychologist’s recent book.

Production of Late Night with the Devil
Development and casting
On February 13, 2022, they said they would make a movie called “Late Night with the Devil.” A studio from the United Arab Emirates called Image Nation and an American company named Spooky Pictures are working on it. The people in charge, Cameron and Colin Cairnes, explained that they wanted to make a scary movie. They decided to use a late-night talk show as the setting because in the ’70s and ’80s, late-night TV was a bit risky. Talk shows showed a strange adult world, and they thought mixing that with supernatural stuff would be a scary movie.
The Cairnes brothers asked David Dastmalchian to play the main character, Jack Delroy, after reading an article he wrote about regional TV horror hosts. Dastmalchian agreed to do it after they sent him a book that looked like a 1970s TV Guide and the movie’s script. They announced that Dastmalchian would be in the movie on June 24, 2022.
Filming
Late Night with the Devil was filmed in Melbourne, Australia. The movie used real special effects like puppets and also included computer-generated visual effects.
Release
The movie “Late Night with the Devil” first showed to people at the South by Southwest Film Festival on March 10, 2023, in Austin, Texas. It was part of the festival’s “Midnighters” section. In the same month, Stephen King, a famous horror author, watched the movie early and said it was “absolutely brilliant” and that he couldn’t look away. The movie also played at the Sydney Film Festival on June 9, 11, and 15, 2023.
Then, in October 2023, IFC Films and Shudder got the rights to show the movie in North America, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.
