About Land of Bad
Land of Bad is a movie that came out in 2024. It’s an exciting action thriller directed by William Eubank, who also wrote the story with David Frigerio. The main actors in the movie are Liam Hemsworth, Russell Crowe, Luke Hemsworth, Ricky Whittle, and Milo Ventimiglia.
You can watch Land of Bad in theatres starting February 16, 2024.
Plot of Land of Bad
Captain Eddie “Reaper” Grimm is a pilot in the US Air Force who controls a drone called MQ-9 Reaper. He helps a particular team from the US Army called Delta Force in the southern Philippines. They are trying to rescue a spy from the CIA.
During a problem with the Abu Sayyaf group, Sergeant JJ “Playboy” Kinney is the only one who survives. He has to rely on the support of the Reaper drone to get to safety.
Kinney reaches a safe place, but Abu Sayyaf catches him. This makes the Reaper drone run out of bullets, and the rescue helicopter has to leave. Kinney loses his gun and gets captured, but luckily, his teammate, Master Sergeant John “Sugar” Sweet, is alive and helps him escape.
Sweet and Kinney try to stop Abu Sayyaf, but they get captured again and taken to prison. Sweet is killed, and Kinney is tortured. He warns the rebel leader about upcoming bombings, but the leader doesn’t believe him.
When the bombs hit, Kinney survives by being in a bathtub. He kills the leader, takes a phone, and calls the Air Force Base for help. However, the base is distracted by a game and doesn’t take him seriously. Kinney leaves a message for Grimm, the drone pilot, to cancel the last bombing.
Grimm is busy with a call, so he doesn’t answer Kinney’s call. Kinney leaves a voicemail, and Grimm hears it later. Grimm rushes to stop the bombing just in time, saving Kinney, Bishop, and the CIA spy.
Later, as the soldiers are taken away in the Philippines, Grimm is angry that the crew didn’t listen and nearly caused the death of three men. He smashes the TV in frustration.

Production of Land of Bad
The movie, named initially JTAC, was written by David Frigerio and William Eubank in 2012 and 2013 while they were at Satellite Coffee coffee shops in Albuquerque. This happened while they were making another film called The Signal. After writing the script, Eubank and Frigerio they spent two weeks at Fort Irwin National Training Center, following real JTACs (Joint Terminal Attack Controllers). They learned much about forward air control, even radioing in “nine lines” (briefings for close air support) to F-35 pilots during exercises.
The movie, directed by Eubank, was first discussed at the 2022 Cannes Film Market. Russell Crowe and Liam Hemsworth were the first actors announced for the film. In September 2022, more actors like Milo Ventimiglia, Luke Hemsworth, Ricky Whittle, Daniel MacPherson, Chika Ikogwe, and Robert Rabiah joined the project, thanks to Crowe.
Filming started in September 2022 and continued until November 2022 in the Gold Coast, Queensland. The Australian government provided incentives for filming there, creating about 270 jobs in the local film industry.
While making the movie, Signature Entertainment got the rights to distribute it in the UK, Ireland, France, and Scandinavia. In the United States, distribution is handled by The Avenue.
