Premise
A girl named Bea can see imaginary friends, called “IFs,” that kids left behind. These IFs once helped the children. Bea finds out that her neighbor, The Man Upstairs, can see them too.

Production
In October 2019, Paramount Pictures won the rights to a project called Imaginary Friends. John Krasinski and Ryan Reynolds created it, and Krasinski will write and direct it. In May 2021, Krasinski’s and Reynolds’s production companies made deals with Paramount. In October 2021, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Fiona Shaw joined the cast. In January 2022, Steve Carell, Alan Kim, Cailey Fleming, and Louis Gossett Jr. also joined. The film brings back Krasinski and Carell from The Office. In August 2022, Bobby Moynihan joined the cast. The voice cast and story details were shared in April 2023 at CinemaCon 2023.
Filming
Filming started on August 31, 2022, with Janusz Kamiński as the person in charge of the camera. They finished filming in early May 2023.
Music
In January 2024, Krasinski told everyone that Michael Giacchino made the music for the movie.
Release
The movie called “IF” will come out in theaters on May 17, 2024, by Paramount Pictures. It was supposed to be released on November 17, 2023, and then on May 24, 2024, but the date changed.
