Premise
In the 1980s, in New York City, Francine gotied a man who is part was a crime family in Brooklyn. They recently moved to a more prominent place in Staten Island. But even there, Francine and her daughters, Rose and Connie, still feel scared because of the mafia.

Production
Jennifer Esposito said that she had been thinking about the script since she was 16 years old and living on Staten Island. She had trouble finding money for the movie because there weren’t many male actors interested. Instead, the money came from a special place: fans invested in the movie through a digital stock exchange called Upstream, which runs on Ethereum.
Casting
In November 2021, Annabella Sciorra started acting with Esposito in a show. She played Christine, the sister of Esposito’s character, Francine. Then, in December 2021, Odessa A’zion and Emily Bader also joined the show. They played Francine’s daughters.
Filming
Filming happened on Staten Island in March 2022.
Release
The movie was played at the Tribeca Film Festival in June 2023. After that, it was shown at the Red Sea International Film Festival later that year.
Fresh Kills will come out in the United States on May 17, 2024.
