Production
In March 2022, Apple Studios said they would make a movie about the Space Race, called Project Artemis, and paid $100 million for the rights. Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans were chosen to star, with Jason Bateman as the director. But Bateman later said they’d probably change the name. He left the project in April because of creative differences. Greg Berlanti took over as the director.
They had to find a new director, which changed the filming schedule. Chris Evans had to leave too. In July, Channing Tatum started talking about taking Evans’s place. In September, Jim Rash joined the cast. Ray Romano, Anna Garcia, and Woody Harrelson joined later.
Filming started on October 27, 2022, in Atlanta. They asked for people to be extras, playing NASA employees and FBI agents. By December 21, 2023, they changed the movie’s name from Project Artemis. The new title was Fly Me to the Moon, announced in April 2024. Daniel Pemberton will make the music for the film.
