About Fancy Dance
Fancy Dance is a drama movie made in 2023 in America. It’s directed by Erica Tremblay, who is making her first big movie. She wrote the screenplay with Miciana Alise. The main actors are Lily Gladstone, Isabel Deroy-Olson, and Shea Whigham.
Fancy Dance first showed at the Sundance Film Festival on January 20, 2023. It will appear in some theatres on June 21, 2024, and then you can watch it on Apple TV+ starting June 28, 2024.

Plot
After Jax’s sister disappeared, Jax cared for her niece Roki on their Seneca–Cayuga Nation Reservation. Jax spends all her free time looking for her missing sister and getting Roki ready for a vital powwow. To find Roki’s mom before the powwow, Jax and Roki go on a journey, even though Jax might lose custody of her father, Frank.

Production
In December 2020, the script for Fancy Dance was chosen for The Indigenous List, which highlights the writing of Native American authors. This list is a collaboration between The Black List, IllumiNative, and Sundance Institute. Then, in May 2022, the script was included in the Cannes Screenplay List.
In August 2022, it was announced that Erica Tremblay would direct the film, produced by Confluential Films. Filming started in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in August 2022.

Release
The movie Fancy Dance was first shown at the Sundance Film Festival on January 20, 2023. Cercamon got the rights to sell it worldwide on February 16, 2023. It was also shown at South by Southwest and NewFest in 2023, where it premiered in New York City.
Apple TV+ decided to distribute the movie in February 2024 and plans to release it later this year. It will have a limited release on June 21, 2024, and then start streaming on Apple TV+ from June 28, 2024.
