About Deva
Deva is a new action-packed movie from India. It’s in Hindi language. The director, Rosshan Andrrews, is making his first Hindi movie. The story is written by Bobby and Sanjay. Siddharth Roy Kapur’s Roy Kapur Films and Zee Studios are producing it. The main actors are Shahid Kapoor, Pooja Hegde, Pavail Gulati, and Kubbra Sait.
They started planning the movie on November 16, 2022. Then, they officially told everyone about the movie in May 2023. The title was announced in October 2023. They started filming in Mumbai the same month. The songs are by Sachet and Parampara, and the music is by Jakes Bejoy. Amit Roy is the cameraperson, and A. Sreekar Prasad edits the movie.
Deva will come out on October 11, 2024, during the festival of Dussehra.

The plot follows a brilliant yet rebellious police officer investigating a high-profile case. As he delves deeper into the case, he uncovers a web of deceit and betrayal, leading him down a thrilling and dangerous path.

Development
In early August 2022, it was said that Rosshan Andrrews went to Shahid Kapoor’s house and told him a story. Shahid liked the story a lot. Later, in November 2022, Rosshan Andrrews said on his social media that he would direct Shahid Kapoor in a new movie. The movie will be an action thriller. This will be the first time Rosshan Andrrews and Shahid Kapoor work together. It’s also the first time Rosshan Andrrews is making a Hindi movie.
Siddharth Roy Kapur’s Roy Kapur Films and Zee Studios are producing the movie. They announced it to the public on May 25, 2023. The movie’s name, Deva, was announced on October 24, 2023, on Dussehra. This will be Shahid Kapoor’s third movie with Siddharth Roy Kapur. They worked together in Kaminey (2009) and Haider (2014). Shariq Patel from Zee Studios said they talked with Siddharth and Shahid about making movies before, but they didn’t happen until now. This is the first time Zee Studios is working with both the director and actor. Shahid Kapoor agreed to lower his pay for the movie and will get ₹25 crore (US$3.1 million).
Pre-production
Production for the movie began on November 16, 2022. It took many months to write the story and get everything ready before filming started. The movie’s story is written by Bobby and Sanjay, who have worked with Rosshan nine times before. Other writers helped with the Hindi dialogues.
Rosshan looked for good places to film and shared some pictures on Instagram. Kapoor, one of the actors, described the movie as an exciting action thriller.
The music for the movie will be done by Sachet and Parampara, and the background music by Jakes Bejoy. Many skilled people are working on the movie, including the cinematographer, editor, art director, stunt director, and costume designers. Insiya Burmawala and Aayush Phadnis from Roy Kapur Films are the executive producers.
Before filming started, Kapoor went to a special training workshop in October 2023 to prepare for his role.
Casting
Shahid Kapoor is acting as a police officer in the movie. He will have short hair, like he did in Haider. He said his character is tough. In May 2023, Pooja Hegde was said to be the main actress. Her role was confirmed on October 13, 2023, which was her birthday. The makers chose Hegde for a new start, making it her first time working with both Rosshan and Shahid.
Kubbra Sait joined the team in early-November 2023. She will also be playing a police officer. This is her second time working with Kapoor after the web series Farzi. She trained for three months before filming and attended a workshop in Mumbai.
In late-November, Pavail Gulati joined the cast for his first action film. He trained physically and mentally for his role, attending a workshop in January 2024. Although there were challenging scenes that could have used a body double for safety, Gulati insisted on doing them himself because he wanted it to look real.
Filming
Filming started on October 12, 2023, in Mumbai. Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde were part of this. In November, Kubbra Sait and Pavail Gulati also joined. They filmed a lot in Dongri Charnul, Mumbai, and finished the first part on December 21, 2023.
In February, they shared some pictures from the filming with the hashtag #OnTheSetsOfDeva.
The second part of filming started in March 2024 in Mumbai. Pavail Gulati joined again, and Pooja Hegde came on March 14, 2024. The next day, on March 15, Shahid Kapoor joined. They filmed action scenes and chases with Kapoor in Mumbai. Gulati got trained for a fighting scene in late March.
Music
The music for the movie Deva was made by Sachet and Parampara together for the first time with the director. The words in the songs were written by Irshad Kamil. The background music was created by Jakes Bejoy, who worked with the director for the third time. Zee Music Company got the rights to the music.

Deva will come out on 11 October 2024, which is the same day as Dussehra.
