Jeff Nichols is an American filmmaker. He was born on December 7, 1978. He makes movies that happen in the Southern United States and have a certain feeling. He often works with actor Michael Shannon, who has been in all of his movies.

Jeff studied how to make movies at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. His first movie, Shotgun Stories, was made with a small budget of $250,000 and came out in 2007.

After that, he made some well-liked movies like Take Shelter (2011), Mud (2012), Midnight Special (2016), and Loving (2016). These movies got attention and were praised by people.

Jeff Nichols and Michael Shannon have a strong friendship and have worked together in five movies: Shotgun Stories, Take Shelter, Mud, Midnight Special, and Loving.

Jeff was going to direct a remake of Alien Nation in 2016, but it didn’t happen, and he said it took a long time for him to make another movie because of it.

In 2018, he directed a short film called Long Way Back Home, and in 2020, there were reports that he would be working on a movie called Yankee Comandante. In 2022, he was set to direct a film called The Bikeriders, which has a great cast including Tom Hardy, Michael Shannon, and others.

Jeff Nichols was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, and went to Little Rock Central High School. He has a brother named Ben Nichols who is a guitarist and singer for the band Lucero. Jeff likes the writings of Mark Twain.
