Ian Nelms

USA

Eshom and Ian Nelms are brothers who love making movies. They grew up in central California, playing with G.I. Joe toys and dreaming about landscapes like the ones in John Ford’s films. Even though they took different paths for a while – Ian went to college on a wrestling scholarship and discovered his love for English, while Eshom studied fine art but ended up loving drawing comic books – they always came back to their passion for filmmaking.

Ian has produced various projects on his own, and Eshom has been a professional storyboard artist for more than ten years. But the Nelms Brothers always work together to write and direct films, and they’ve won awards for both short and feature films.

In 2013, their movie ‘Lost on Purpose’ won many awards at film festivals, including Best Film and Best Directors. In 2015, they released ‘Waffle Street,’ which won the Carpe Diem Award for Best Film at the Woodstock Film Festival and Best Narrative Film at the Hollywood Film Festival.

Their latest film, ‘Small Town Crime,’ starring John Hawkes, Anthony Anderson, Octavia Spencer, Robert Forster, and Clifton Collins, Jr., got released nationwide on January 19th, 2018. It received great reviews from important critics like the NY Times, LA Times, Variety, and The Hollywood Reporter.

Apart from making films, the Nelms Bros. also produce other projects together. Recently, they were executive producers for the series “Everyone is Doing Great,” created by their long-time friend James Lafferty. They are also set to direct the thriller ‘Capture’ for Thunder Road, the company behind the successful ‘John Wick’ movies, which have earned more than $260 Million worldwide.
