David Charles Meyers, born on October 19, 1972, is a director from the United States. He makes videos for music, commercials, and films.

Early Life:

Dave Meyers grew up in Berkeley, California. When he was 17, he worked at a local cinema and started loving movies. He graduated from Berkeley High School and went to Loyola Marymount University. There, he studied Film Production and Philosophy.

Career:

After finishing university, Meyers worked at big studios like Paramount and Fox. Later, he made his first music video for the rap group The Whoridas.

He changed his focus from making full-length movies to directing music videos after meeting director Gus Van Sant. Meyers has directed over 200 videos for popular music artists. His work got many nominations and won 12 MTV Video Music Awards, including Best Video of the Year in 2003, 2011, 2017, and 2018. In 2006, he won a Grammy Award for directing Missy Elliott’s “Lose Control.”

In 1999, Meyers directed the comedy movie “Foolish” with Eddie Griffin. In 2007, he directed the remake of “The Hitcher,” produced by Michael Bay.

Meyers often works with artists like Janet Jackson, Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Missy Elliott, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Jennifer Lopez, and Pink.
