Vipin Kumar Sharma is an actor, editor, and filmmaker from India. People know him for his roles in movies like Taare Zameen Par (2007), Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), Kick (2014), and Paatal Lok (2020).
When he was a kid, Sharma lived in a slum in Delhi. He liked acting in movies from a young age, but it was listening to an interview with actor Sanjeev Kumar on the radio that really inspired him. He started by doing different jobs for a small Punjabi theater group in Delhi, like selling tickets and serving tea.
He studied at the National School of Drama in New Delhi, India, and also at the Canadian Film Centre in Toronto, Canada. He finished his studies at the National School of Drama in India in 2003.
Sharma began his acting career on TV in 1989 with the show Bharat Ek Khoj and then appeared in his first movie, Krishna, in 1996. He became well-known for playing Nandakishore Awasthi in Taare Zameen Par (2007), where he got nominated for a Screen Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
After the success of Taare Zameen Par, he acted in various films like 1920 (2008), Karthik Calling Karthik (2010), Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster (2011), Paan Singh Tomar (2012), Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), and Hotel Mumbai (2018). From 2020, he has been part of the Amazon series Paatal Lok, playing the role of DCP Bhagat.
