Tamlyn Naomi Tomita is an American actress. She was born on January 27, 1966. She first appeared in a movie called The Karate Kid Part II in 1986. Later, she played the same character in the Cobra Kai series in 2021. Another famous role of hers is Waverly in The Joy Luck Club (1993). She acted in various films like Come See the Paradise (1990), Picture Bride (1994), Four Rooms (1995), Robot Stories (2003), The Day After Tomorrow (2004), and Gaijin 2: Love Me as I Am (2005).
Tamlyn has also been on TV shows like 24, Glee, Teen Wolf, and How to Get Away with Murder. She was in Berlin Station (2016) and The Good Doctor (2017-2019). In 2020, she had a part in Star Trek: Picard.
She was born in Okinawa on a U.S. military base and grew up in Los Angeles. Her dad, a Japanese-American, was in an internment camp during World War II. Her mom, who was half-Native Okinawan and half-Filipino, met her dad in Okinawa after the war. Tamlyn graduated from Granada Hills High School and studied history at UCLA.
