Suzy Nakamura is a lady who acts in TV shows and movies. She was born on December 2, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents were from Japan. Her dad taught English in a school, but sadly, both her parents passed away when she was in her twenties. She has one older brother. Suzy went to Lane Technical College Prep High School and later studied theater at Columbia College Chicago.

Before becoming an actor, Suzy worked at Crate & Barrel. She joined an Asian-American theater group called MinaSama-No after high school. In 1991, Suzy became the first Asian American woman to be part of The Second City improvisational comedy troupe, where she stayed for five years.

Suzy has acted in many TV shows, movies, commercials, and stage plays. She even co-founded The Second City Detroit in 1993. Her first film role was in a movie called “Strawberry Fields” in 1997. She has been in popular TV shows like “According to Jim,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and “Modern Family.” Suzy also had leading roles in the TV shows “Dr. Ken” and “Avenue 5.”

In 2015, she got a role in the ABC show “Dr. Ken.” She was honored at the East West Players’ 52nd Visionary Award in 2018. Later, in 2018, Suzy joined HBO’s “Avenue 5” as Iris Kimura. The show premiered on January 19, 2020.

In her personal life, Suzy was married to Harry Hannigan, but they separated in 2018 and have since divorced.
