Sobhita Dhulipala is an actress from India. She acts in movies in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu languages. She represented India at the Miss Earth 2013 pageant. Sobhita started her acting career in 2016 with the movie Raman Raghav 2.0. She got nominated for her performance at the Cannes film festival. She gained popularity for playing Tara in the Amazon Prime Video series Made in Heaven from 2019 to 2023.
Sobhita has acted in various films like Goodachari (2018), Major (2022), Moothon (2019), Kurup (2021), and Ponniyin Selvan: I (2022) and Ponniyin Selvan: II (2023). She also appeared in The Night Manager series in 2023.
She was born on May 31, 1992, in Tenali, Andhra Pradesh, into a Telugu Brahmin family. Sobhita moved to Mumbai at the age of sixteen for her studies. She attended H.R. College of Commerce and Economics at the University of Mumbai. Besides acting, she is a trained classical dancer in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi.
She participated in Miss Earth 2013 and, despite not making it to the top 20, won sub-titles like Miss Photogenic, Miss Beauty for a cause, Miss Talent, and Miss Beautiful Face. Sobhita made her film debut in 2016 and signed a three-film deal with Phantom Films. She received critical acclaim for her role at the Cannes Film Festival.
In 2019, she played the role of Tara in Made in Heaven and also appeared in Bard of Blood, a Netflix series. Sobhita made her Malayalam debut with Moothon in the same year. She played different roles in Ghost Stories, Kurup (2021), and Major (2022).
She appeared in Ponniyin Selvan: I and Ponniyin Selvan: II, and won an ITA Award for Best Actress – Popular (OTT) for The Night Manager series. Sobhita is set to make her Hollywood debut in the action thriller Monkey Man, releasing on April 5, 2024.
