Ray McKinnon is an American actor, writer, director, and producer. He was born on November 15, 1957, in Adel, Georgia. He went to Valdosta State University and graduated with a degree in theatre in 1981.
In his career, McKinnon has been in TV shows and movies like Apollo 13, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, The Accountant, Deadwood, Sons of Anarchy, and Mayans M.C. He played Reverend Smith in Deadwood and Lincoln Potter in Sons of Anarchy and its spin-off, Mayans M.C.
McKinnon, along with his wife Lisa Blount and Walton Goggins, started a production company called Ginny Mule Pictures. They produced The Accountant, which won an Academy Award in 2001.
In 2004, McKinnon wrote, produced, directed, and acted in the film Chrystal, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. His wife Lisa Blount won a Best Actress award for her role at the Stockholm International Film Festival.
In 2013, McKinnon wrote and directed the TV series Rectify, which was the first original series from SundanceTV. The show won a Peabody Award in 2013 and ended in December 2016.
On a personal note, McKinnon was married to Lisa Blount from 1998 until her passing in 2010. Currently, he lives in Little Rock, Arkansas.
