Phyllis Logan is an actress from Scotland. She was born on January 11, 1956. You might know her as Lady Jane Felsham in Lovejoy from 1986 to 1993 or as Mrs. Hughes in Downton Abbey from 2010 to 2015. She even won a BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer for a movie in 1983 called Another Time, Another Place. She acted in other films like Secrets & Lies (1996) and Misbehaviour (2020).

In her early life, Phyllis grew up in Johnstone, Scotland, with her brother and sister. Her dad worked with Rolls-Royce and was part of a trade union. Unfortunately, he passed away when she was in drama school.

Phyllis went to Johnstone High School and later studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. She graduated in 1977.

After finishing her studies, Phyllis started her career at the Dundee Repertory Theatre and later worked on stage in Edinburgh. She also appeared on Scottish television.

Before becoming famous as Mrs. Hughes in Downton Abbey, she was well-known for her role as Lady Jane Felsham in Lovejoy, a TV show with Ian McShane.

Phyllis Logan played various roles in films, including a lead role in Another Time, Another Place, for which she won awards. She also became popular as Mrs. Hughes in Downton Abbey, winning a poll for the best character on the show.

Apart from acting, Phyllis starred in other TV series like The Good Karma Hospital and Girlfriends. She even appeared in Doctor Who.

In her personal life, Phyllis Logan is married to actor Kevin McNally, and they have a child. They live in Chiswick. She supports charities for dementia patients and the SSPCA. She won the Best Actress – Television award at the British Academy Scotland Awards in 2022 for her role in Guilt. She also starred in the third and final series of Guilt, released in April 2023.
