Nishan, also known as Kallichanda Prasad Nishan Nanaiah, is an actor from India. He mostly acts in Malayalam movies but has also been in films in Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu. He was born in Coorg, Karnataka, and grew up in Calcutta. He went to the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune.
In his personal life, Nishan was born to Kallichanda Somaiah Prasad (K. S. Prasad), who worked in customs and central excise, and his late mother, K. Padma Prasad. He grew up in Kolkata and used to play tennis professionally. He studied Mass Communication at St. Xavier’s College in Kolkata and later did acting studies in Pune. Nishan can speak six languages and is good at learning new ones.
Nishan started his acting career with a Hindi film called Cycle Kick, but it didn’t get a wide release initially. He got noticed in the Malayalam film industry with his role in the movie Ritu directed by Shyamaprasad. Since then, he has acted in various movies in different languages. He has worked in around 15 Malayalam films, one Telugu film, three Hindi films, one Kannada film, two Tamil films, two Bengali films, and one Bengali web series. Currently, he’s filming a Hindi movie called Nastik with Arjun Rampal.
After finishing his studies, Nishan moved to Mumbai to try his luck in Bollywood. He worked with Subhash Ghai in the movie Cycle Kick. Later, he decided to explore opportunities in South Indian cinema and got his first break in a Telugu film called Manorama. His performance in the movie Ritu earned him critical acclaim and the best debut award.
Following his success in Ritu, Nishan appeared in other notable films like Apoorvaragam and Ee Adutha Kaalathu. He also starred in David alongside Vikram. His upcoming movie is Badlapur Boys, a Hindi film directed by Shailesh Verma, based on the traditional Indian sport of kabaddi.
