Leslie David Baker is an American actor. He played a grumpy paper salesman named Stanley Hudson on a TV show called The Office for nine years.

Early Life

Baker was born on February 19, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois. He went to Mendel Catholic College Preparatory High School and then studied psychology at Loyola University Chicago. Later, he got a master’s degree in human services administration from Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership. He used to teach special education and act in commercials while studying for his master’s degree. In Chicago, he worked for the Board of Education, the Department of Public Health, and the Office of Cable and Communications.

Acting Career

In the late 1990s, Baker moved to Los Angeles, California.

The Office

Baker almost missed his audition for The Office because of traffic. He arrived looking rumpled and cranky, which suited the character he was auditioning for perfectly. He got the part and played Stanley Hudson, a grumpy salesman at Dunder Mifflin paper company. His performance was well-received, and he won awards with the rest of the cast.

After The Office

After The Office ended, Baker didn’t get many roles, but he stayed busy with other projects. He tried to start a spin-off series called Uncle Stan but faced challenges, including delays due to COVID-19 and strikes in Hollywood.

Baker appeared in other TV shows like Raven’s Home and That ’70s Show. He also did voice work for movies like Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie. He was in commercials for FileMaker Inc. and Honey Nut Cheerios.”
