Juliet Maryon Mills was born on 21 November 1941 in London during World War II. Her parents, actor Sir John Mills and playwright Mary Hayley Bell, moved the family away from bombing raids to the countryside. She has a younger sister, actress Hayley Mills, and a brother, director Jonathan Mills.
Growing up, Juliet was surrounded by famous actors like Rex Harrison, David Niven, Marlon Brando, and her godmother was actress Vivien Leigh, with playwright Noël Coward as her godfather. She attended the Elmhurst Ballet School in Surrey.
Juliet started her career as a child actress and earned a Tony Award nomination at 18 for her role in Five Finger Exercise in 1960. She then moved on to films and TV, starring in the sitcom Nanny and the Professor in the early 1970s. She received Golden Globe nominations for her work in the series and the film Avanti! in 1972. Juliet won an Emmy Award for her role in the TV miniseries QB VII in 1974.
In the 1980s, she joined The Mirror Theater Ltd’s Mirror Repertory Company, and from 1999 to 2008, she had a role on the daytime drama series Passions, earning a Daytime Emmy Award nomination.
