William James Remar, born on December 31, 1953, is an American actor who has been in many movies and TV shows for over 40 years. Some of his famous roles include Ajax in The Warriors (1979), Albert Ganz in 48 Hrs. (1982), and Harry Morgan in Dexter (2006–2013).
He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Elizabeth and Roy Remar. He dropped out of high school at 15 but later went back. After trying different jobs, he decided to become an actor at 20. He studied acting in New York City.
Remar has played mostly villain roles in movies like The Warriors and 48 Hrs. He also appeared in TV shows like Miami Vice, Sex and the City, and Dexter. In Dexter, he played the father of the main character.
In his personal life, Remar got married to Atsuko in 1984, and they have two children. In 1985, he faced some difficulties when he was fired from Aliens for drug possession.
Recently, he appeared in TV shows like Black Lightning and The Rookie. He is also set to be part of a new TV series called Welcome to Derry in 2025.
