Griffin Dunne is an American actor, movie producer, and movie director. He was born on June 8, 1955, in New York City. He learned acting at The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York.
Dunne is famous for playing Jack Goodman in “An American Werewolf in London” (1981) and Paul Hackett in “After Hours” (1985). He got nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his role in “After Hours.”
In his early life, Dunne grew up in Los Angeles. His parents were Ellen Beatriz and Dominick Dunne. He has Irish and Mexican roots. His mother started an organization called Justice for Homicide Victims after Dunne’s sister, Dominique, was murdered in 1982. His dad was a producer, writer, and actor.
Dunne began acting professionally at 19, starting with a small role in “The Other Side of the Mountain” in 1975. He appeared in various films like “An American Werewolf in London,” “Johnny Dangerously,” “After Hours,” “My Girl,” and “Quiz Show.” He also acted in TV shows like “Frasier,” “Saturday Night Live,” “Alias,” and “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.”
Apart from acting, Dunne became a producer. His first successful film was “Chilly Scenes of Winter” in 1982. He formed a production company called Triple Play Productions. Later, it became Double Play Productions, producing films like “Baby It’s You,” “After Hours,” and “Running on Empty.”
Dunne also directed movies. His debut was the short film “Duke of Groove” in 1995, which got an Academy Award nomination. He directed five feature films, including “Addicted to Love” (1997) and “Practical Magic” (1998).
In his personal life, Dunne was married to actress Carey Lowell from 1989 to 1995, and they have a daughter named Hannah Dunne. He later married Anna Bingemann in July 2009.
