Garret Lee Dillahunt, an American actor born on November 24, 1964, is well-known for his work on TV and in movies. On TV, he played Burt Chance in the show Raising Hope, Jack McCall and Francis Wolcott in Deadwood, and John Dorie in Fear the Walking Dead from 2018 to 2021. He also appeared in other TV series like The 4400, ER, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Burn Notice, Justified, and The Mindy Project.
In movies, Dillahunt had supporting roles in films such as No Country for Old Men, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Winter’s Bone, Looper, and 12 Years a Slave.
Born in Castro Valley, California, Garret Dillahunt grew up in Selah, Washington. Sadly, in 1981, his older brother Eric died in a car accident caused by a drunk and speeding driver. After high school, Dillahunt went to the University of Washington and graduated in 1987 with a degree in journalism. Later, he earned a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in acting from New York University.
Dillahunt started his career in theater on and off Broadway and then transitioned to TV and film. He appeared in various TV shows like The X-Files and NYPD Blue, and gained recognition for his roles in Deadwood and ER. In the film world, he was part of projects like The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and No Country for Old Men.
From 2010 to 2014, Dillahunt played Burt Chance in the comedy Raising Hope. He also had roles in The Mindy Project and The Guest Book. In 2018, he starred in the action film Braven and joined the cast of Fear the Walking Dead in its fourth season.
In his personal life, Garret Dillahunt married actress Michelle Hurd in 2007.
