Esther Povitsky is an American comedian, actress, writer, and producer. She was born on March 2, 1988, in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in Skokie, a nearby suburb. Esther co-created and starred in the comedy series “Alone Together” and played Izzy in the Hulu series “Dollface.” Her first comedy special, “Hot for My Name,” premiered on Comedy Central on July 17, 2020.
In her early life, Esther attended Niles North High School in Skokie. After spending three years at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, she left to pursue stand-up comedy and acting. Esther studied comedy at various places, including iO Chicago, The Second City, and The Groundlings in Los Angeles.
Esther’s career includes appearances on TV shows like “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Love,” and “Parks and Recreation.” She also participated in the reality show “Last Comic Standing” in 2015. Esther has been a guest on “The Joe Rogan Experience” and hosted several podcasts.
She created the short film “Alone Together,” which turned into a TV series on Freeform. Despite its cancellation after the second season in 2019, Esther continued her career. Her comedy special, “Hot for My Name,” was released in 2020.
Apart from her entertainment career, Esther runs a fashion brand called “Sleepover by Esther.” She promotes her brand on Instagram and features her clothing in posts. In her personal life, Esther was previously in a relationship with Tony Hinchcliffe and is currently engaged to comedy writer Dave King. They are expecting their first child.
