Ashwini Kalsekar is an actress from India. She mostly acts in Marathi and Hindi TV shows and movies.
She is famous for working with directors like Sriram Raghavan, Rohit Shetty, and Ram Gopal Varma in Hindi films. Ashwini played a police officer in the popular TV show CID. Her first main role on TV was in 1999 in Zee TV’s show Mr. Gayab. She became well-known as the first Indian Catwoman for her role as Shalaka Catwoman in the children’s superhero show Shaktimaan. She also played roles in shows like Kasamh Se, Afsar Bitiya, Jodha Akbar, and Kavach, where she portrayed negative characters. Additionally, she was a judge on the Marathi reality show “Fu bai fu” in 2011.
She started her career in Tollywood with the movie Badrinath. From 2019, she focused on online streaming platforms like Zee5 and MX Player, appearing in series like “Chargesheet: The Shuttlecock Murder” and “Cheesecake.”
Ashwini was born in Mumbai into a Marathi family. Her father worked in a bank, and she completed her B.A. in 1991. After her studies, she pursued theatre training from 1991 to 1994 under actress Neena Gupta and theatre coach Muzammeel Vakil. She is also a trained Kathak dancer.
In her personal life, Ashwini got married to Nitesh Pandey in 1998 but got divorced in 2002. In 2009, she married film and TV actor Murali Sharma.
Ashwini’s acting journey started with the TV show Shanti, and she later worked in successful serials like CID, Anjaane, Siddhant, and K. Street Pali Hill.
Her breakthrough came with the role of Jigyasa Walia in the soap opera Kasamh Se, for which she received several awards. In 2012, she played Maham Anga in Jodha Akbar, earning critical acclaim and awards.
She also appeared as a judge in the Marathi comedy reality show Fu Bai Fu in 2012 and 2014, played the role of Pam Khanna in Ekta Kapoor’s soap opera Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar.
