Arun Govil is an actor from India. He became famous for playing the character of Lord Rama in the TV series called Ramayan, which was shown on TV between 1987 and 1988. He has also acted in movies like Paheli (1977), Sawan Ko Aane Do (1979), Saanch Ko Aanch Nahin (1979), Jiyo To Aise Jiyo (1981), Himmatwala (1983), Dilwaala (1986), and Govinda Govinda (1994).

Early Life:

Arun Govil was born on January 12, 1952, in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India. He went to Chaudhary Charan Singh University in Meerut, where he studied engineering. He also acted in some plays while he was there. When he was a teenager, he lived in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. His dad wanted him to work for the government, but Arun wanted to do something different that people would remember him for.

Arun’s dad, Shri Chandra Prakash Govil, worked for the government. Arun has six brothers and two sisters. One of his brothers, Vijay Govil, is married to Tabassum, who used to be a child actress and hosted a famous Bollywood talk show.

Career:

In 1975, Arun moved to Mumbai to work in his brother’s business. But he didn’t enjoy it, so he decided to try acting. His first movie was Paheli in 1977. He became really famous after acting in Sawan Ko Aane Do (1979) and Saanch Ko Aanch Nahin (1979). He also acted in TV shows like Vikram Aur Betaal and Ramayan.

Playing the role of Rama made him very popular, and he got more roles, like Harishchandra in Vishwamitra and Buddha in Buddha. He even did voice acting as Rama in an animated film called Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama.

Personal Life:

Arun Govil is married to actress Shrilekha, and they have two children together, Sonika and Amal. On March 18, 2021, he joined the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).
