Anthony Michael Hall is an American actor. He became famous for being in movies made by John Hughes, like Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Weird Science.

He did different roles to avoid always playing the same character. He was even on Saturday Night Live for a short time. After that, he acted in various movies and TV shows.

Anthony was born on April 14, 1968, in Boston. His mom, Mercedes Hall, was a singer, and his dad, Larry, owned a car repair shop. His parents divorced when he was a baby, and he moved around a lot with his mom.

Anthony started his career in commercials when he was seven. He first appeared on stage in 1977 and then made his TV debut in 1980 in a movie called The Gold Bug. He gained attention for his role as Rusty Griswold in National Lampoon’s Vacation in 1983.

His breakout role came in 1984 when he played “The Geek” in Sixteen Candles. He continued working with John Hughes in The Breakfast Club and Weird Science. He joined Saturday Night Live in 1985 but left after a year.

In the 1990s, Anthony took on more mature roles, like in Edward Scissorhands and Six Degrees of Separation. He also directed his first film, Hail Caesar, in 1994. In 1999, he played Bill Gates in the TV movie Pirates of Silicon Valley.

During the 2000s, Anthony appeared in TV shows like The Dead Zone and films like The Dark Knight. In recent years, he’s been on The Goldbergs and starred in Halloween Kills in 2021.

Anthony Michael Hall has had a varied career in acting, and he’s also into music. He formed a band called Hall of Mirrors in 1998. He’s had some personal challenges, like dealing with a drinking problem in the late 1980s, but he overcame it and became sober.

As of 2016, he lives in Los Angeles and is the godfather to Robert Downey Jr.’s son. In 2019, he got engaged to actress Lucia Oskerova, and in February 2023, they announced they were expecting their first child. Their son was born in June 2023.
